We need to make sure Iowans have access to healthcare which includes preventative care, long-term care, mental health care, dental care, and vision care. Healthcare access should not be determined by one's employment, marriage, or economic status. The state-wide public health program should not be managed by out-of-state corporations with no input from the communities they serve.
We need to bring back the level of respect and funding to the public school System that I enjoyed as a child. We were NUMBER ONE in education when I was a child and I want to return us to that position. Revising our current voucher system is step one. Oversight over how are tax dollars are spent is a simple ask.
The "Property tax Reform" bill that was passed this year is going to handcuff and hamstring small local communities for years to come. State funded mandates have had a stranglehold on local governments for years, but this bill will exacerbate the financial strains small communities are facing. It will either make communities eliminate positions or cut programs completely. We can do better and make sure our small Iowa communities don't suffer.
